Personal profile
René van Buuren is a senior member of scientific staff at Telematica Instituut where he heads the institute’s expertise group on Networked Business. His research interests range from service innovation and business modelling to DRM technology and next generation intelligent communication solutions.
In the past, he has managed the CNL and MESEC projects, two major and long term cooperations between industry and academia, which involved industries like Vodafone, Philips, DSM and Corus. The CNL project delivered a collaborative software platform for industrial material analysis. This product is currently positioned in the market by one of the project members. In MESEC a next generation person based rights management solutions has been developed, resulting in multiple patents and standardisation contributions.
At this moment, he is vice-director of a large scale national research program on intelligent communication called Freeband Communication (
www.freeband.nl
). Furthermore he is initiating a national research program on service innovation.
René holds an MSc in Applied Mathematics from the University of Twente (1995) and a PhD in Computational Fluid Dynamics from the University of Twente (1999).
