Science is playing an increasingly important role in top sport. It provides a lot of useful data that has been combined by Sportlog into one conveniently arranged unit. Sportlog collects information from athletes in a wide variety of sports and uses that information to perform more accurate analyses. In that way, athletes, coaches and specialists can more efficiently compare training results and training schedules in the course of time.
Sports communication platform
Sportlog was developed in 2005 in cooperation with NOC*NSF (the Dutch Sport Federation) and KNZB (the Dutch swimming federation). Sportlog allows athletes to immediately access the information on their performances. In addition, specialists all over the world - with the proper authorisation - can also view the information and provide the athletes with useful advice.
This sports communication platform makes it possible to collect, monitor and compare the various types of (multimedia) data on athletes and share it with training specialists. The system is an innovative combination of groupware and a content management system. Information from various systems is used to create a single digital dossier. Video images give the dossier extra value.
Expanded and extended
The pilot with the KNZB was so successful that further (expanded and extended) developments are now linking Sportlog to other sports. Another pilot will soon start at the Dutch Rowing Federation (KNRB). And top clubs such as the PSV swimming club and national coaches like Jacco Verhaeren and Marcel Wouda are now also using Sportlog to train swimmers.
